AI giant Anthropic announces plans to list on US stock market
- company SpaceX
- company US Securities and Exchange Commission
- lab Anthropic
- model Claude
- person Elon Musk
AI firm Anthropic has filed confidential paperwork with U.S. regulators for an initial public offering, moving to become a public company after a recent private valuation exceeding $965bn[1][2].
The company, known for its Claude chatbot, submitted the filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission[1][2]. The number of shares to be offered and their price have not yet been set[1]. The planned listing follows a period of rapid growth and intense competition in the artificial intelligence sector. Anthropic's move toward a public market debut comes shortly after it raised capital from private investors at a valuation of more than $965bn[1][2]. The firm was founded five years ago by CEO Dario Amodei and other executives who previously worked at rival OpenAI. The two companies have since emerged as direct competitors, developing similar technologies and vying for users and corporate clients. The IPO filing signals a major liquidity event for one of the industry's most prominent startups, testing public market appetite for AI-focused firms at a time of high private valuations.
